With her project ‘Playdate’ designer Dieuwertje Boekholtz invites children and young adults to discover and get in tune with their body. The collection consists of several tools that provide sensorial inputs such as tickling sensations, temperature changes or weight to explore your own body or the body of others. What do you feel? Do you like it? What not? This exploration is of huge importance as the start of your adult sex-life.
Sexuality starts when you are born and develops with you throughout your life. Today most sexual education focusses solely on avoiding the risks of sex by teaching prevention and protection. In the classroom, the joys and pleasure that can also be gained from having intimate relations are generally still a topic of taboo. Knowing your body leads to a healthier and more joyful sex-life in the future. Playdate exists of several tools that in a playful way support the quest to explore and to discover your body. It aims to open up the conversation and leads to youngsters growing into adults with a healthy connection to their body.
