Why do we use plastic packaging to keep our food fresh? Did you know many plastic packaging materials eventually enter our diet in the form of microplastics? As someone who has worked in a supermarket for four years, designer Floor Lakerveld witnessed the excessive and wasteful application of plastic packaging, particularly with regards to the individual packaging of vegetables. But what is the alternative? 


Floor started developing a packaging material that has the same benefits as plastic packaging, but one that is 100% natural, edible and biodegradable. Introducing: 'FanTasty Dip!’. Packing vegetables in 'FanTasty Dip’ will protect them against contamination and increases their shelf-life due to the oxygen regulation it provides.  Because the coating dissolves in water you can simply wash it away before use, or alternatively you can peel the material off and throw it in the greens-bin where it will fully biodegrade. 'FanTasty Dip’ represents a new way of packaging food that is not only innovative but necessary!
