When was the last time you played like a kid? As a kid playing comes natural to us, but when we grow older we tend to forget the joy it brings. According to various scientific research however, playing as an adult is super valuable. Playing decreases stress, makes your thinking more creative and makes you become better at solving problems. It helps you to adapt to the changing world around you and trains you to deal with unexpected circumstances.

With ‘BEADS, connect to play, play to connect’ designer Rinske van den Heuvel reintroduces playing for grown-ups. Presented as an interactive archive, she created a collection of a few hundred ceramic and plastic beads in various colors, shapes and sizes that function as building blocks to create necklaces. The necklace construction takes place at a round table that serves as both a playing field and a conversation table. By threading different beads onto strings, two to five players can make necklaces at the same time, according to special playing cards with questions. The questions challenge the participants to play in different ways. While they connect the beads, they connect to each other as well.

Following this experience, the joy, playfulness and connection with others spreads when the necklaces are worn. The beads remind the wearer and their surroundings to play more, laugh more and have more fun in life. "Connect to play, play to connect!”
